Veeam Software has announced the availability of the Veeam App for ServiceNow, a native integration that brings Veeam’s data protection and backup capabilities directly into ServiceNow workflows.
The new app reportedly delivers “bi-directional, seamless, policy-driven backup and recovery orchestration capabilities natively within the ServiceNow AI Platform”.
This will enable IT teams to manage data protection tasks like backup scheduling to recovery without leaving their ServiceNow console.
“In today’s digital landscape, everything depends on data – especially the workflows that drive modern business operations,” said John Jester, chief revenue officer (CRO) at Veeam. “Data Resilience means ensuring all organizational data is protected, so business can continue uninterrupted, no matter the circumstances.”
According to the companies, this release will let organizations:
- Empower teams with self-service data protection and automation, allowing end users or teams to initiate backup and restore jobs through ServiceNow.
- Automate incident creation in response to backup failures or events, streamlining business continuity and incident response workflows.
- Gain full auditability and compliance reporting, thanks to real-time status sync, logging, and policy-driven orchestration.
- Maintain role-based access and governance, integrating with native ServiceNow user and group management for secure operations.
Targeting Regulated Sectors
Veeam said the Veeam App for ServiceNow is especially relevant for organizations in highly regulated sectors, such as manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and finance, where compliance, traceability, and rapid recovery are critical.
Commenting on the partnership, Alix Douglas, Group Vice President, Partner Solutions at ServiceNow, said: “Veeam App for ServiceNow gives customers powerful new ways to further protect data in highly regulated sectors. This collaboration is only the beginning of empowering organizations to thrive in today’s dynamic business environment.”
The app is now available for free to customers holding Veeam Data Platform Advanced and Premium editions through the ServiceNow Store.
Final Thoughts
While targeting different use cases, there are some similarities between the Veeam partnership and ServiceNow’s recent integration with Microsoft. In both cases, the integration pulls external capabilities into ServiceNow, letting organizations manage more services from a single interface while automating tasks.
As ServiceNow continues its mission to become the control plane for more enterprise-wide workflows, the Veeam integration brings backup and disaster recovery operations into the same governance and automation environment as ITSM, incident management, and compliance. This could go a long way to helping organizations reduce tool sprawl, improve traceability, and accelerate recovery when issues arise.
